Dr. Débora Barbosa Vendramini Costa got her PhD in Cellular and Structural Biology in the University of Campinas, Brazil in 2012. Since 2015, she is a researcher fellow at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, USA.  She has many collaborations with different Brazilian institutions and recently co-supervised 4 PhD students from the University of Campinas, whose projects focused on the chemopreventive effects of functional foods (chia seeds, Brazilian Red propolis, avocado pulp) and other natural products and synthetic molecules in cancer and inflammatory diseases. In the US, she is involved in several translational projects that aim to understand the immunosuppressive mechanisms and crosstalk between the different cells in the tumor microenvironment of pancreatic cancer. Recently, one of her main projects was published in Cancer Discovery, which uncovers the pro-tumor roles of the synaptic protein Netrin G1 expressed by cancer-associated fibroblasts in Pancreatic Cancer.  Dr. Vendramini-Costa has 37 publications and more than 1000 citations. She is member of the American Association for Cancer Research, American Society for Cell Biology and American Pancreatic Association.
