Call for Industry Forum


The BPM Industry Forum serves to exchange experiences and to support networking among BPM experts around the world. The target audience of the industry track includes business analysts, process managers, chief information officers, chief operations officers, digital transformation managers, project managers, process consultants, industry researchers, and related service providers.

The forum focusses on cutting edge real-world experiences in leveraging BPM for both improvement and innovation in all sectors. We welcome contributions from various angles to BPM, including technology, methods, governance, strategic alignment, people and culture. Each team of authors must include at least one representative from the organisation that serves as the BPM case. Typical case studies of service providers and BPM vendors are not desired.

Topics

Organizations are invited to submit their cases and present them at the most prestigious BPM conference. We are, among others, interested in cases that demonstrate the application of new technologies such as Robotic Process Automation, Process Mining, Internet of Things, Blockchain, Virtual/Augmented Reality, Predictive Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Building Information Models, Digital Twins, Smart Devices, etc.

The Industry Forum will have:

  • BPM research in practice: industrial and research participants present reports on case studies, applications, applied research. It is expected to receive contributions related to successful collaborations between academia and industrial partners. Each team of authors must include at least one representative from the industrial partner and another one from academia.
  • Practitioners forum: this is a track specifically devoted to learning from experience and networking where practitioners, focusing on learned lessons that serve as example for others. It is expected to receive primarily contributions from practitioners. Each team of authors must include at least one practitioner from an industrial organization.

The format will be structured to be highly interactive and discussion oriented, with the talks being a stimulus for initiating a conversation on a topic and exchanging experiences.

Submission Instructions

The submission format depends on the kind of contribution to the BPM Industry Forum:

BPM research in practice: if you are interested in presenting at BPM use cases, please submit a paper with your case description following the link https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=bpm2020. Papers must be formatted according to Springer’s LNCS formatting guidelines. Submissions must be in English and must not exceed 8 pages. This track will have dedicated official proceedings, published online as CEUR volume, with ISSN.

Practitioners forum: if you are interested in presenting at Practitioners forum, please submit a one-page proposal (PDF format is required). Each proposal must follow the guidelines below (failure to adhere to these rules may result in the rejection of the proposal):

  • Proposals must not be focused on the description of commercial tools.
  • Proposals must focus on the description of experiences with lessons learned. They must have the following structure (mandatory): Business challenge faced, solution approach, benefits and lessons learned. Proposals will be evaluated according to the interest and relevance of the problem/use case, ease for transferring the solution to other contexts or similar use cases, and presentation clarity. After that evaluation, a set of candidate proposals will be selected. These candidates will be invited to provide more information about the case in an online call. The final selection of candidates will be made after evaluating all candidates.

  • Notification of acceptance: 27 July, 2020
  • Submission of final version (for BPM use cases): 14 August, 2020
  • Industry Forum: 15 - 17 September, 2020
