USEFUL INFORMATION

LOCATION

The meeting will take place at the Facultad de Matemáticas (Faculty of Mathematics) of the University of Seville, inside the Campus of Reina Mercedes (cf. Avenida de la Reina Mercedes), which is on the south of Seville's downtown. The Math building is very easy to recognise with a distintive yellow brick covering: you can check out the precise location here.

HOW TO REACH SEVILLE

BY PLANE

Getting to Seville is easy. Several airlines, including large and low-cost ones, serve the city from many European airports.  

The airport is 12 kms away (about 20 minutes by car) from the city centre. A taxi from the airport to the city centre will cost you a fix fare of 19.04€ (21.24€ on weekends). A bus service connecting the airport and the city centre is also available: (click here to check the timetable). Tickets are bougth directly on the bus, 2,40€ for a one way trip.

BY TRAIN

There is a high speed railway line (AVE - Alta Velocidad Española) operating the Madrid-Cordoba-Seville route (less than two hour and a half for the whole trip). Santa Justa's train station is close to the city centre. For information about fares, timetables and reservations see RENFE's webpage.

BY CAR

Several major highways (motorways) lead to Seville; namely, A4 from Madrid; A45-A92 from Málaga; A49 from Faro (Portugal).

 

THE CITY OF SEVILLE

Seville is one of the nicest cities in Spain. HOTELS

Nearby the campus one of the closest lodging is the University Residence Estanislao del Campo, with a rate around 42€ (short stay rates can be checked out here). Moreover, there are also several hotels in the neighborhood of the campus. The prices per night for an average hotel usually range between 50€ and 100€. For instance, all the followings hotels are less than one kilometer far away (i.e., not more than ten minutes walking):

- Hotel Silken - Al-Andalus Palace (4*)

- Hotel Villa de la Palmera (4*)

- Hotel Holos (3*)

Moreover, very close to the Campus there is also the Youth Hostel Albergue Inturjoven Sevilla (in Spanish).

 

CLIMATE

SHOPPING HOURS

Shops are generally open from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:30, Mondays through Saturdays. Department stores and malls usually open from 10:00 to 22:00 and do not close for lunch.

 

BANKS

Banks open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:00. There are six different bank branches in front of the Campus of Reina Mercedes. Also, cash machines (ATMs) are quite easy to find (there and in town).

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

An extensive public transportation network covers the whole of Seville Metropolitan Area: see its official web site here (in Spanish). As well as single tickets (1.30€ each), which can be bought on the buses, there are 1 and 3 day travel cards (5€ and 10€ each). All of them can be bought in stationeries and tobacco stores all over the city. Lines 6 and 34 have stops in Avenida de la Reina Mercedes (the latter drives you directly to the city centre).

 

RESTAURANTS

Most restaurants open from 13:00 to 16:00 in the afternoon; 20:00-24:00, in the evening.

   

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

Electricity is supplied at 220 V - 50 Hz AC with European standard plugs (type F also know as Schuko).
