The 5th International Conference on Media Ethics will be held in Seville on the 28th and 29th of March 2019 at the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology (University of Seville, Spain).
This international conference has become a reference forum to present and share various projects and initiatives related to the deontology-ethics of journalism and the responsibility and management of the media. After the unparalleled success of previous editions in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, all of them acknowledged by their scientific potential and their fruitful academic and personal exchange and collaboration, in this 5th edition (2019), we are honoured to announce that reputable universities such as the Autonomous University of Mexico and the University of Pompeu Fabra are joining.
This conference is part of the I+D+i project "Accountability y Culturas Periodísticas en España. Impacto y propuesta de buenas prácticas en los medios de comunicación españoles" (MedicaACES, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (CSO2015-66404-P).
In this line, this conference is critically engaged with the social responsibility reporters, journalists and the media have vis-à-vis an active citizenship, without ignoring other long-discussed topics on media ethics that may lead to new sinergies among researchers gathered in this fruitful space. A debate among the different Spanish, European and international media cultures will contribute without a doubt to establish a number of mechanisms of media responsibility and journalists in relation to citizenry. The Organising and the Academic Committee work hard to offer a quality academic programme and social activities that may allow the widening of numerous networks among the members of the conference, from which new projects could come up.
