General information

The paper contributions should be sent until February 28th, 2019 in WORD (*.doc, *.docx) format to mediaethics@us.es.

These contributions will be answered in a maximum time of 10 days since it was received. Every attendee could present 2 papers maximum. If the person decides to present a second paper, they will have to pay 30€ extra apart from the general registration fee.

Every paper can be signed by a maximum of 4 authors (with no increase in the final price if there is a shared authorship). In case co-authors decide to attend this conference, they will be held as full attendees, therefore, they will need to pay complete registration fee.

The accepted papers will be published in abook on Human Rights and Globalization in the Dykinson, an advanced positioned publishing house in the Spanish Scientific Index, as you can see in the following list of CSIC http: //ilia.cchs.csic .es / SPI / prestigio_expertos_2018.php. The Scientific Committee will select the articles that will be published.

Requirements for publications

Every paper must be original and previously un-published; no paper can be submitted to other conference or entity at the same time it is about to being presented in this conference.

  1. Every proposal must be of eminently academic nature. Proposals regarding specific journalistic articles or general commentary about any other topic of research will be discarded.
  2. 4-authors-maximum papers with an extension of 15 to 25 sheets; 10.000 words (including graphs, tables, footnotes, in-text citations and a brief works cited section at the very end of the paper) approximately will be selected.
  3. Papers can be submitted in the following languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
  4. Papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed.
  5. Once the acceptance of the papers-to-be-published is notified, a declaration of originality and declaration of assignment of rights in favour of the Organising committee will be sent to this committee to manage the publication of these papers with a publishing house.
  6. The author will be allowed a maximum period of a week to incorporate the suggested modifications in the revised version of the paper.
  7. The full name of the author(s) and the incoming institution must appear on the first page of the paper.
  8. Papers should be sent with a brief bio-note at the very end including: the latest academic degree, institution and location where the author works, country of origin, lines of research, complete reference to their 3 previous publications, email address, zip code and phone number.

Structure and guidelines for proposals

Notice: Publishing criteria have been adopted from the journal Convergencia. Revista de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. It does not exist any publishing arrangement with the papers selected for this conference in liaison with the aforementioned journal. Its publishing criteria have been adopted due to its clarity and rigour to guaratee a quality publication of our «libro del congreso» (Congress Proceedings), although there is no connection between these and other publications.

  1. The paper should be typed on a A4 size paper, 1.5 line spacing, Times New Roman, size 12.
  2. It must include: introduction, methodology, results, discussion and conclussions.
  3. It must have a descriptive title in the vehicular language and in English, preferably a brief title (no more than 12 words) that show clearly the contents of the paper.
  4. A 100/150-words abstract with 5 keywords. These two sections must be written in the original or vehicular language and in English.
  5. Titles and subtitles should be clearly differentiated; in order to do so, it is highly recommended the use of the decimal system.
  6. For the printed version of the text, illustrations (maps, tables, charts and graphs) will be strictly necessary and they must be self-explanatory (no need to check the text to understand them). They all must be placed at the end of each paragraph (the one whose illustration makes reference to). It should be clearly specified that illustrations are placed at the very end of each text. It is paramount that each illustration is sent (along with the text) in a separate file.
  7. Images should be included in jpg format with no highlighting or texture.
  8. Make sure authorship is clearly stated and that no copyright is infringed.
  9. Diagrams or outlines must not be copied from the internet. Images with valuable data, figures, and/or text should be sent in the original format they were created, in Microsoft Word or Excel. For the tables and charts, it is recommended that statistical information given is as clear and concise as possible.
  10. According to editorial policies, no image will be accepted for the printed version, and the journal reserves this right.
  11. There are no restrictions in the digital version when it comes to attaching any coloured  illustration or another audiovisual material.
  12. Footnotes shoud be exclusively clarifying or explanatory, that is, they should extend on or specify the idea(s) previously discussed in the main-body text, but never to add any reference (there is a section especially devoted to all the references found in the text).
  13. In-text quotations must follow the Harvard referencing system/guide, according to the following examples:
    • General reference of any source: author’s surname, year published and page number in brackets  “(Alberti, 2002: 39)”; when there are 2 authors: (Rodríguez y García, 1998: 56); or more than 3 authors (Sánchez et al., 2003).
    • When referencing multiple works from the same author published in the same year, they will be listed alphabetically and they will be differentiated with a lowercase letter after the year.
