Biography

Enrique Huelva is the current vice-rector of the University of Brasilia (Brazil), a university that holds currently the presidency of the Tordesillas Group.

Since 2002, he has been a professor at the University of Brasilia, where he has taught undergraduate course in Languages and the Postgraduate Programme in Applied Linguistics. Moreover, he has served as director of the Institute of Letters, head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation, coordinator of the Hispanic Studies and Resources Centre and director-general of the Confucius Institute at the University of Brasilia.

A linguist, teacher and researcher, his academic output is related to the study of the link between grammar and cognition, grammaticalization processes (especially in Romance languages) and language teaching and learning processes.

He has an MA in Germanic Philology, Hispanic Philology and History and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Bielefeld (Germany), where he taught Hispanic Philology between 1997 and 2002.
