INTRODUCTION

LogoFollowing the success of previous editions, the main goal of INFLA 2012 is the creation of an academic forum for flamenco research. INFLA understands that flamenco is related to other music traditions, and research around flamenco involves different disciplines employing rigorous, wide-ranging methodologies. We encourage the participation of students, professionals and researchers in the disciplines involved in flamenco research (among others, anthropology, aesthetics, history, sociology, psychology, musicology, education, engineering, mathematics, philology, literature, journalism, economy, medicine, library sciences, marketing, arts, etc.). By no means is this list exhaustive. We therefore invite submissions in any aspect related to flamenco research.

In this 2012 edition, INFLA will be jointly organized with the 2nd International Workshop on Folk Music Analysis (FMA). The purpose of the event is to gather researchers who work in the area of folk music analysis -with a special focus on computational models built from symbolic or audio data- to present and discuss their work as well as exchange views on the topic. Presentations on all types of ethnic, folk or traditional music are welcome. We ask that all talks focus on specific musical styles(s) or region(s), which should be made explicit in the title. This workshop will be entirely in English. The joint organization of these two events will open up new paths for collaboration among researchers, students and professionals interested in flamenco and folk music research.
